Patna : Opting to bat after winning the toss, Pakistan were 255/3 in 90 overs at stumps on day 1 of the first cricket test against Australia at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, UAE, on October 7, 2018, riding on a 205 run opening partnership between Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez.

Haq fell to spinner Nathan Lyon for 76 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Hafeez, 37, fell to fast bowler Peter Siddle after scoring 126 in 208 ball with 15 fours. Azhar Ali scored 18 runs getting out to Jon Holland. At stumps, Haris Sohail was batting 15 with a six and Mohammad Abbas on 1. Fast bowler Mitchell Starc could not take any wicket on the first day despite bowling 21 overs.
