Patna : Pakistan defeated New Zealand (NZ) by 18 runs in the 3rd T20I at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, on January 28, 2018, to wrap up the three-match T20I series 2-1. Pakistan had also won the 2nd T20I.New Zealand had won the Test and ODI series.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, New Zealand scored 181/6 in 20 overs with opener Fakhar Zaman making 46 in 36 balls hitting 5 fours and a six while Captain and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmad made 29 in 21 balls hitting 3 fours. Opener Ahmed Shehzad made 19 in 18 balls hitting 3 fours while Umar Amin made 21 in only 7 balls hitting 3 sixes. Harris Sohail also made 20 in 12 balls hitting 3 fours. Babar Azam made 18.

For New Zealand, Ish Sodhi took 2/47 while Mitchell Santner took 2/24. Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme took one wicket each.

Chasing a victory target of 182, New Zealand finished at 163/6 in 20 overs with opener Martin Guptil scoring 59 in 43 balls hitting 4 sixes and 2 fours while Ross Taylor made 25 in 11 balls hitting 3 sixes. Captain Kane Williamson made 9 while Tom Bruce made 22 in 15 balls hitting 2 fours and a six. Spinner Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 24 in 12 balls hitting 3 fours and a six. Colin de Grandhomme made 1 while Anaru Kitchen made 16.

For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took 2/19 while Aamer Yamin, Rumman Raees, Mohammad Amir,and Faheem Ashraf took one wicket each.
