Osaka, Halep, Kerber & Karolina Pliskova enter 2nd round of Madrid Open

Patna : World No Naomi Osaka, Japan, World No 3 Simona Halep, Romania, World No 4 Angelique Kerber, Germany, and World No 5 Karolina Pliskova, Czech Republic, advanced to the 2nd round od Madrid Open, Spain, on May 5, 2019.

Osaka beat World No 33 Dominika Cibulkova, Slovakia, in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 firing 8 Aces to enter the 2nd round while Simona Haleo beat World No 65 Margarita Gasparyan, Russia,  6-0, 6-2 to enter the 2nd round.

Kerber beat World No 26 Lesia Tsurenko, Ukraine,  6-3, 6-2 in the first round. Pliskova defeated World No 38 Dayana Yastremska, Ukraine,  in a tough three-set contest 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 to advance to the 2nd round. Pliskova fired 10 Aces in the match to 8 by Yastremska
