Patna : With only 6 candidates beloning to the BJP, JD(U), RJD and Congress filing their nominations for 6 Rajya Sabha seats in the biennial elections, all of them set to be elected unopposed.

The Congrees Party, which has fileded former Union Minister Akhilesh Prasad Singh, will be sending its nominee to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar after agap of 16 years. Congress is an ally of the RJD, which is contesting two seats.

The JD(U) has also fielded two candidates while BJP has again fielded Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The JD(U has retained Bihar JD(U) chief Bashistha Narain Singh and Mahendra Prasad as its nominee. The RJD has fielded its national spokesperson Manoj Jha, a Delhi University teacher, and Ashfaq Karim, MD, Katihar Medical College and Hospital. To win a Rajya Sabha seat, a candidate requires 35 votes.
