Patna: Of the 10,242 state tubewells in Bihar, only 4,301 are functional while another one thousand are out of order and not worth being used. But, the state goverment is making every effort to make functional the remaining around 4,700 state tubewells. Principal Secretary, Minor Irrigation department, Tripurari Sharan, on Monday said the department is implementing the 2,000 hectare command area scheme. He said by the end of 12th five year plan ( 2012-17) the department would make available irrigation facility in 25.289 lakh hectare as per the Agriculture Roadmap.
