One more child dies due to AES at Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur : One more child died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) at Kejriwal Hospital, a private hospital at Muzaffarpur, on June 16, 2017, evening. The deceased belonged to East Champaran district. Administrator, Kejriwal Hospital, B B Giri,  confirmed the death of the child. Three more AES patients are undergoing treatment at Kejriwal hospital and another two at Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur.

With this the number of children dying due to AES and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) at SKMCH, Muzaffarpur, and Kejriwal Hospital, has increased to 14 in 2017. The JE has claimed four lives. While ten children have died at SKMCH, another four died at Kejriwal Hospital. Head of Paediatrics Department, Dr Arvind Kumar, said that the SKMCH is fully equipped to treat AES patients.
