Patna : New Zealand (NZ) were 311/2 in 84 overs at stumps on day 2 in their first innings in the first test against Sri Lanka (SL) at Basin Reserve, Wellington, New Zealand, with opener Tom Latham batting on 121 in 256 balls with 11 fours and former captain Ross Taylor batting on 50 in 86 balls with 5 fours.
Captain Kane Williamson scored 91 in 93 balls with 10 fours while opener Jeet Raval scored 43 in 70 balls with 6 fours. Williamson fell to Dhahanjaya de Silva while Raval fell to Lahiru Kumara. New Zealand lead by 29 runs.
Earlier, Sri Lanka were all out for 282 in their first innings in the first session of the play on day 2. Wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella remained unbeaten on 80 with 11 fours while Angelo Mathew scored 83 with 9 fours and a six.
