Bagaha : A team of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) led by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R S Mehrotra visited Madanpur forests range under Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran district on June 21, 2017, and inquired about hindrance in movement of wildlife due 6 km long Bagaha -Paniyahawa rail track and NH 28(b) which run through the forests, a habitat of tigers.

The team also  comprising Senior Manager, World Wide Fund (WWF) for nature, Kamalesh Kumar Maurya, and a member of Indian Forests Research Iinstitute Dehradoon, Manoj Nayar, observed that the area is vulnerable for wildlife and they require more protection.. The team expressed unhappiness over the protection works done so far as many Tigers, Rhinoceros, Reptiles and other wild animals were run over and killed by trains during past few years. The team will submit its  report to the  ministry of Forests and Environment, Government of India. VTR Director cum Forest Conservator, Champaran Forests, division-2,  Amit Kumar and other officials of the VTR were present on the occasion.
