Patna : Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, the 2017 World Champion has become the new World No 1 female bandminton player with 91,586 points in the BWF rankings released on October 29, 2019. She has jumped two places to attain her highest rankings.

Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Chinese Taipei, has slipped one place to be ranked world No 2 with 91,395 points. She had lost in the SFs of French Open last week. Chen Yu Fei, 21, China, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 3 with 90,965 points while Akane Yamaguchi, 22, Japan, has slipped two places to be ranked World No 4 with 88,650 points. Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, is World No 5 with 80,285 points.

A N Se Young, 17, South Korea, has jumped 5 places to be ranked World No 11 with 56.977 points after winning the French Open title last week defeating reigning Olympic Champion Carolina Marin, 26, Spain. Carolina has jumped 7 places to be ranked World No 10 with 58, 680 points.

P V Sindhu, 24, India, who has made early exits in fours tournaments after winning the World Championships title at Basel, Switzerland, in August, 2019, defeating Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, in final, remains static at World No 6 with 79,324 points while Saina Nehwal, 29, India, remains World No 9 with 59,887 points.
