Patna: The SIT sleuths of Bihar police on Monday arrested Mukesh Pathak, wanted in connection with the murder of two engineers in Darbhanga last and another engineer at Sheohar, from Ramgarh railway station in Jharkhand. Pathak was wanted in 16 cases of murders, extortion and loot in East Champaran, Muzaffarpur,Darbhanga and other places,Bihar DGP P K Thakur said on Monday.
According to Thakur, Pathak had killed two engineers of a private construction company in Darbhanga on December 26, 2015. The two slain engineers were: Brajesh Kumar Singh and Mukesh Kumar Singh. He had allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 25 crore for their release from the construction company. Pathak had escaped from police custody. Speedy trial of 16 others arrested in this connection is going on. Pathak too would face speedy trial as Patna High Court had issued direction to dispose off the case within nine months.
Recording of evidences by witnesses is going on in the case, the DGP said. Though Pathak tried to deny his identity as Mukesh Pathak, still SIT arrested him after thoroughly confirming his identity as the wanted man The .SIT team would be rewarded for Pathak’s arrest, DGP Thakur said.
