Patna : With a view to cracking down on criminals demanding extortion from traders, contractors, dealers and others, Police have decided to shift their gang leaders lodged in different jails including Beur central jail, Patna, to jails outside Patna.
The Patna zone police is preparing a list of such criminals, according to DIG, Central Range, Patna, Rajesh Kumar.
It may be recalled here that a henchman of criminal turned politician Reetlal Rai, MLC, Sunny, had recently demanded extortiona amount from a raiway contractor. Khagaul police arrested him before he could extort money from the contractor. On scrutinizing the call records of Sunny’s Mobile phone, police found a call made to the railway contractor from his phone.
These criminals are likely to be shifted to jails outside Patna and Nalanda within 15 days. Police will also keep a close watch on the visitor of these crimaials. Police sources said these crimianals would be prodeuded before courts in connection with different cases through video conferencing.
