Notorious criminal Mamlesh Singh arrested from Farukhabad, UP

Ara : An STF team from Patna and Bhojpur polic, in a joint operation, arrested notorious criminal Mamlesh Singh, who was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, from Panchal Ghat in Farukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, on May 17, 2019, and brought him over to Ara on May 18, 2019.

Mamlesh was absconding in about half a dozen criminal cases including the murder of businessman and LJP leader Munnu Singh. Several cases of murder, attempt to murder, rangdari, and firing were lodged against him with Nawada police station, Ara. Mamlesh is a resident of village Mahuli under Ara Muffassil police station in Bhojpur but was living at a house at Sankatmochan colony at Ara.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that Mamlesh Singh had some tiff with the family members of a businessman and LJP leader Munnu Singh on a trivial. Later, Mamlesh shot dead Munnu Singh on April 24, 2017, when he was at his shop and escaped, the SP said. Mamlesh had also shot at Ravi Singh, nephew of Munnu Singh, on February 27, 2019. The SP said that he announced a reward of Rs 5, 000 on his head but it when it did not work, he had recommended for increasing the reward amount. On his recommendation, the Police Headquarter announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.

After announcement of Rs 50,000 award on Mamlesh’s head, the STF was asked to arrest him. Following mobile phone surveillance, the Patna STF and DIU, Bhojpur, got information that Mamelsh Singh had taken shelter at the house of his friend at Farukhabad in Uttar Pradesh. The police team reached Farukhabad and arrested Mamlesh Singh from a house there and brought him over to Ara.
