Giridih: A tribal girl and man allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at village Sirsiya under Jamua police station in Giridih district. The deceased were identified as Hiralal Soren, 25, and Sangeeta Soren, 19, both residents of the same village.
Although, the incident took place late on Sunday evening, it came light on Monday morning when some the villagers saw the bodies of the couple near a pond located about one -and -a- half kilometre from their residences, said the villagers as well their parents.A team of Jamua police led by the police station incharge, Kedarnath Prasad, visited the site of incident and looked into the matter. The police also found a bottle of unnamed poisonous substance from the site of incident.
“Nothing can be confirmed unless we finish our investigation process but as per the information procured from different sources, both were in love and wanted to get married. Some of Sangeeta’s relatives also revealed that their marriage proposal was not acceptable to the families as well as the community members as both belonged to the same clan,” said the Prasad. The bodies were sent for post- mortem and a case has been lodged with the Jamua PS in this regard, Prasad said.
