Ara : Bhojpur police are yet to arrest the killers of newspaper hawker Yogendra Tatwa even after lapse of 60 hours though ASP Dayashankar Singh had assured to arrest them within 24 hours.

Yogendra Tatwa, son of Shankar Prasad of village Ramdatahi under Karnamepur police outpost, was shot dead  on January 17, 2018, morning, when he was going to distribute papers. After his murder, the villagers and relatives went on rampage at Karnamepur village and set ablaze three police jeeps and also hurled stones on police force in which over a dozen police personnel were injured. Police had to fire 25 rounds in the air to disperse the unruly mob.

Later, a named FIR was lodged with Karnamepur police outpost against four persons: Brajesh Rai, Sona Rai, Shiv Sagar Rai and Ritesh Rai of the same family on the statement of Meena Devi, wife of slain Yogendra Tatwa.

The court had January 18, 2018, ordered for attaching the property of Brajesh Rai and Rameshwar Rai, who were the named accused in the murder of Rajendra Tatwa in September 2017. Rajendra was cousin of Yogendra Tatwa. Police pasted ‘Ishtehar’ on the walls of the accused. Police also pasted Ishtehar on the walls of Sona Rai, Ritesh Rai and Shiv Sagar Rai.

ASP Dayashankar Singh said that Brajesh Rai and Rameshwar Rai were among the five named accused in the murder of Rajendra Tatwa. The ASP said that the court had issued arrest warrant against five persons and police had arrested three of them while two named accused Brajesh Rai and Rameshwar Rai were absconding.

Meena Devi said that had police arrested the accused earlier, her husband might not have killed. She said that her husband was a witness in the murder case of his cousin Rajendra Tatwa and the accused had threatened him with dire consequence recently. She said that she and her family were living under constant fear.
