Patna : Police are yet to make a breakthrough in the theft of jewellery, cash and other valuales worth over Rs 64 lakh from the house of a retired engineer Madan Mohan Singh at village Kastoorichak under Nayagaon police station (PS) in Saran district recently when he was away at Ranchi in connection with treatment of his daughter.

Unidentified criminals stole Rs 2 lakh cash, Jewellery  and other valuables worth over Rs 62 lakh from the locked house of a retired Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) engineer Madan Mohan Singh, 64, at Kastoorichak village under Nayagaon police station when he was away at Ranchi with his wife and daughter.

Madan Mohan Singh lodged an FIR in this connection with Nayagaon police station on September 3, 2018, on his   return from Ranchi. Police sources claimed that the theft might have taken place 10-12 days back. SHO, Nayagaon police station, said that a fingerprint team had arrived from Patna and collected the fingerprints from the spot. The house is located beside a railway track away from residential area with 6 feet boundarywall, he added. The open space in the plot has Sheesham (Rosewood tree), Sagwan ( Teak)  and other trees, the SHO said.

The SHO further added that a double barrel gun and 8 bullets were also in the open but were not stolen away by the unidentified criminals. However, 17 bullets were kept separately in a drawer, he added.
