Patna : Bihar CM and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, and RJD leader and former CM Rabri Devi were among the 11 candidates declared elected unopposed to Bihar legislative council on April 20, 2018, by the Secretary, Bihar legislative assembly cum Returning Officer Ram Shrestha Rai.

The  biennial polls to 11 seats of Bihar legislative council were scheduled for April 26, 2018, but since there were only 11 candidates for as many seats, all of them were declared elected unopposed after the deadline for the withdrawal of candidature ended on April 20. Of the 11 candidates declared elected to Bihar legislative council, four belong to the RJD, three each to JD(U) and BJP, and one to Congress. Of the 11 Members whose term will expire on May 6, 2018, five belong to the JD(U), 4 to BJP and one to RJD. The RJD has this gained three seats.

Other declared elected to Bihar legislative council are : former Union Minister Sanjay Paswan ( BJP), Ram Chandra Purbey, Santosh Manjhi, and Khurshid Mohsin, all RJD, Premchand Mishra, Congress, Rameshwar Mahto, and Khalid Anwar, both JD(U).

While it will be third consecutive term for CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi in the council, Paswan, Mishra, Santosh Manjhi, Rameshwar Mahto, Kahlid Anwar, and Khurshid Mohsin will be making their maiden entry to the Upper House. Congress will now have three members in the council. For former CM Rabri Devi, it will be her second term in the Upper House.
