Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday clarified the village heads (mukhiyas) will not be arrested if liquor is found at any village under their respective jurisdiction. Speaking at a programme at state secretariat where he interacted with newly elected village heads through video conference, the CM said this kind of rumour was being spread.”Only mad person can think of action like this. Those who are trying to spread rumours like this are lunatics.Only a mad person can talk of this kind of action,” the CM said repeatedly. A couple of days back, some BJP leaders had claimed Bihar government was going to amend the Bihar Excise Act and proposing to arrest the village heads, sarpanchs and mukhiyas, if an offence under the Act took place at any village under their respective jursidiction.
