New Delhi:  The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports about numerous casualties and injuries in the clashes between the protestors and the security forces in the Valley in Jammu & Kashmir.  It has observed that it is closely watching the incidents of violence in the aftermath of the killing of alleged militant Burhan Wani in an encounter with the security forces on July 8, 2016. Expressing its utmost concern over the developments, the Commission has issued notices to the Union Home Secretary and the Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, calling for reports in the matter.  It has given two weeks to them to respond.
