Patna : New Zealand crushed Pakistan by 123 runs in the third test at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, on December 7, 2018, winning the three-match test series 2-1. Chasing a target of 280 runs to win the test, Pakistan were all out for just 156 runs in 56.1 overs with New Zealand spinners Ajaj Patel and William Somerville, 34, taking three wickets each. Pacer Tim Southee also took three wickets while Colin de Grandhomme took one wicket. Somerville took 7 wickets in his debut test.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, 28, who scored 89 in the first innings and 139 in the second innings in the test, was declared Player of Match. Kane Williamson scored 386 runs in the test series. Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah was declared Player of the series.

New Zealand were all out for 274 in their first innings and declared their second innings at 353/7 in the first session of the play on the fifth day of the match on December 7 with Kane Williamson scoring 139 and Henry Nicholls an unbeaten 126. Pakistan were all out for 348 in their first innings with Azhar Ali scoring 134 and Asad Shafiq 104.

Set a target of 280 runs, Pakistan though were all out for 156 runs in their second innings with Babar Azam scoring 51, captain and wicketkeeper Safraz Ahmed 28, and opener Imam ul Haq 22.

New Zealand had lost the T20I series 3-0 but had drawn the ODI series 1-1.
