Patna : Bihar unit of Bihar BJP, which had so far been calling the amended Bihar Excise Act draconian, on January 9 threw its weight behind Bihar CM Nitish Kumar as far prohibition goes giving a dramatic turn to Bihar politics.

Bihar BJP president and party MP from Ujiarpur in Samastipur district Nityanand Rai on January 9 described prohibition as a praiseworthy step and said all the BJP workers would participate in the human chain to be formed across the state on January 21, 2017.

This is BJP’s return of compliment to Nitish, who had supported demonetisation announced by PM Narendra Modi on November 8, 2016. PM Modi, during his visit to Patna on January 5 to participate in Prakashotsav, had patted Nitish for enforcing prohibition in Bihar and requested all political parties to support it. Meanwhile, CM Nitish Kumar on January 9 made a courtesy call to Bihar governor Ram Nath Kovind.
