Patna : Both NDA and Grand alliance breached the alliance principles by deciding to contest the Graduates constitutency poll of Bihar Vidhan Parishad elections from Magadh-Shahabad seat. Nominations will conclude
on February 20.
BJP has nominated sitting MLC and chairman of Bihar Vidhan Parishad Awadesh Narain Singh as its nominee. JD(U) is supporting Singh. LJP fielded D N Sinha. The Congress has fielded former MLC Ajay Singh, who is son of co-operative leader late Tapeshwar Singh, a former MP. Ajay Singh’s candidature was announced by Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president Ashok Chaudhury on February 18.
The RJD has already announced the candidature of Punit Kumar Singh, son of party’s former MP and former
minister Jagdanand Singh. Amit Sinha, a former secretary of Bihar Pradesh Congress committee and
son of former BPCC president Ramjatan Sinha on February 18 filed his nomination papers. Amit had been campaigning in the 8 districts of Shahabad and Magadh divisions, which constitute the Magadh – Shahabad Graduates constitutency, for the last three months. Mahachandra Prasad Singh, a former minister, is HAM(S), a constitutent of NDA, candidate from Tirhut Teachers’ constitutency.
