Patna : The NDA on March 17, 2019, announced the names of seats its three constituents in Bihar : BJP, JD (U) and LJP, would contest in the 2019 LS elections. The names of seats were declared at a joint press conference held at JD (U) state headquarters at Patna.
The press conference was addressed by State BJP Ppresident Nityanand Rai, State JD (U) President Vashistha Narain Singh, and state LJP chief Pasupati Kumar ‘Paras’, younger brother of LJP supremo and union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. Vashistha Narayan Singh said that after holding parleys with the allies, it has been decided that BJP and JD(U) would contest 17 seats each while the LJP would contest six seats.
Singh said that the JD (U) would field its candidates from Valmikinagar, Sitamarhi, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Madhepura, Gopalganj, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Karakat, Nalanda, Jehanabad and Gaya. The BJP had won Siwan, Gaya, Gopalganj, Jhanjharpur, and Valmikinagar LS seats in 2014 LS polls while the LJP had won Munger seats in 2014 polls.
Singh said that the BJP, which had won 22 seats in 20144 LS polls, would field its candidates from Purvi Champaran, Paschimi Champaran, Sheohar, Madhubani, Araria, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Maharajganj, Saran, Ujiyarpur, Begusarai, Patna Saheb, Patliputra, Ara, Buxar, Sasaram, and Aurangabad.
The State JD (U) state president said that LJP would field its candidates from Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagaria, Jamui, and Nawada. The BJP candidate Giriraj Singh had won the Nawada seat in 2014 LS polls.
After announcements of seats, State BJP President Nityanand Rai said that seats allotments have been done after mutual understanding among the allies. He announced that NDA would win all the 40 Lok Sabha seat from Bihar.
