Naxalites set ablaze JCB of construction firm in Rohtas

Sasaram : Members of a banned naxal organization, TPC, attacked and set ablaze a JCB machine and a Poklane near village Mahuapokhar village under Buddi Police Station in Rohtas district late January 25 evening for levy. The naxals also beat up Rajesh Kumar, driver, and Teju Ram, khalasi, of JCB and Rajgrihi Ram, guard, Poklane. They also fired about a dozen rounds in the air to terrorise the locals. Police lodged an FIR and are conducting raids to arrest the naxalites.

DIG, Shahabad range, Md. Rahman said that the employees of ‘Baba Hansraj Construction’, which was assigned work of construction of canal, were sleeping leaving the JCB and the Poklane machine at the construction site. He said that the naxalites set ablaze the JCB and the Poklane machines but it is still not clear as to which naxal organization committed the crime.

Himanshu Shekhar, chief manager, Baba Hansraj Construction, said that a naxal Rakesh Mishra had demanded levy with a threat of dire consequences if he fails to yield to his demand and had kidnapped an employee on December 20, 2016. He said that he had informed police and even the DIG and he received a letter the same day sent by Rakesh Mishra asking him to pay levy and get order to start work on the project
