Nawada: In one of the speediest judgements ever in Nawada civil court, the fast track court of ADJ II Kaushlesh Kumar on December 21, 2017, sentenced a Nawada liquor seller Raju Ravidas to 10 years imprisonment for stacking prohibited liquor at his house. The cout also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on him for storing prohibited liquor at his house. The judgement was announced within 14 days of lodging of the FIR.
According to court sources, Raju Ravidas, aresident of Musahari tola near Harishchandra Stadium in the heart of Nawada town, was nabbed with 70 pouches of countrymade liquor at his residence on December 7, 2017. An FIR was lodged against him with Nawada town police station. And just within two weeks, the trial was conducted and the judgement delivered.
It may be mentioned here that a day before that is on December 20, the same court had also sentenced another accused Ganesh Sao to 10 years’ imprisonment besides slapping a fine of Rs one lakh for illegally storing 144 litres of illicit liquor at his residence at village Ghostama
also under Nawada police station.
