Nalanda village slapped community fine

Patna: District Magistrate of Nalanda Dr M S Thyagrajan on Tuesday  imposed community fine on a mahadalit dominated village Kailashpuri. Nalanda is the home district of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.The DM said despite repeated raids at the village by excise officials, manufacture of illicit liquor did not stop. They were warned earlier too. The adminisration has served  notices on 50 families of the village asking them to pay Rs 5,000 each to the government .
The villagers, however, defended manufacture and sale of liquor claiming that it was was their only source of income.
