Patna : World Number 2 in the ATP rankings Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain, on February 27, 2018, pulled out of the on going Mexico Open, a Hard Court event, at Acapulco due to right hip injury. The same injury had forced him to retire in the quarterfinals of Australian Open (AO) in January 2018 against Croatia’s Marin Cilic.
Top seed Nadal was scheduled to play veteran Feliciano Lopez, Spain, on February 28, 2018. Nadal felt acute pain during training session on February 27 and was advised by his medical team not compete in the tournament. He had reached Acapulco to play in the tournament. Nadal had won the Mexico Open, an ATP 500 event, in 2005 and 2013.
