Patna : Defending champion and World No 2 in ATP rankings Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, World No 1 and twice champion Rafael Nadal, 32, Spain,  and World No 8 Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, entered the quarter-finals of Wimbledon tennis championship on July 9, 2018.

Eight time champion Federer defeated World No 26 Adrian Mannarino, 30,France, 6-0, 7-5, 6-4 in the Round of 16 to enter the last eight. Federer won the first set in just 16 minutes. But, Mannarino put up some resistence in second and third set. Federer fired 13 Aces in the match to 6 by Mannarino. Federer also won 5 break points.

Nadal beat Jiri Vesely, 24, Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in the ound of 16 to enter the quarter-finals. Nadal fired 9 Aces in the match to 8 by Vesely. Nadal also won 5 break points while Vesely won just 1. Nadal’s winning percentage on both his first and second serve was also much better that that of his rival. Vesely committed 2 double faults to just 1 by Nadal, who had won the Wimbledon singles title in 2008 and 2010.

Anderson beat Gael Monfils, 31, France, in a four-set thriller 7-6, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6 in the Round of 16 to enter the QFs. Anderson hammered 20 Aces in the match to 9 by Monfils. But, Anderson also committed 6 double faults to 4 by Monfils. Incidentally, Monfils won 4 break points compared to 3 by Anderson. Both players won three games in row each.

World No 10 John Isner, 33, USA, defeated World No 35 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 19, Greece, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 in the Round of 16 to enter the QFs. Isner fired 22 Aces in the match to 18 by Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas committed 5 double faults to 2 by Isner.

World No 28 Kei Nishikori, 28, Japan,  beat Ernests Gulbis, 29, Latvia, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-1 to enter the quarter-finals. Gulbis fired 18 Aces in the match to 7 by Nishikori. Nishikori committed 7 double faults to 4 by Gulbis.

World No 32 Milos Raonic, 27, Canada, defeated Mackenzie McDonald, USA, 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 to enter the quarter-finals. Raonic hammered 36 Aces in the match to just 4 by McDonald. Both the players committed 6 double faults each. Raonic won 4 games in a row in the match.
