Muzaffarpur: The Excise department sleuths conducted raid at Shahi Darbar restaurant located on Jawaharlal Road,  Muzaffarpur, on September 17 night and seized three bottles of liquor. They sealed the restaurant and also arrested its owner Amit Kumar Bunty.

Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh said that prohibition had been strictly enforced in all the 16 blocks of the district. An Ecise official was recently honoured by the government. Excise Superintendent Amit Kumar said about one hundred raids had been conducted in Muzaffarpur district after enforcement of prohibition. About two hundred persons had been arrested for selling, smuggling and consuming liquor,he said and added liquor, both countrymade and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL),  worth Rs 2 crore had been seized in the district.

Police had destroyed liquor manufacturing units under three blocks. Eight persons were arrested recently from a Muzaffarpur hotel for serving liquor to customers. The hotel, allegedly owned by an influential leader of the district, was sealed.
