Muzaffarpur : Police made a major breakthrough in the Nawada gang rape case under Katra police station in Muzaffarpur district by arresting three of the four accused on October 2, 2017, evening, from Boksi Chowk near Katra market area. The three arrested accused were identified as Anish Kumar, Gagan Kumar and Sachin Kumar, said SSP, Muzaffarpur, Vivek Kumar, on October 3. The fourth accused Raushan Kumar is, however, still at large.

The four accused had gangraped a 14 year old girl, who belongs to a village under Gaighat police station in Muzaffarpur district, and had to come to village Nawada to meet his brother’s wife ( Bhabhi) and her kid, during Durga Puja. She was gangraped by the four accused on September 28, 2017, while returning from a Mela ( Fair).

Katra police on October 1 registered an FIR against seven persons on the statement of the girl, whose medical examination was also done on the same day. Of the seven accused, four accused had gangraped the minor girl while the other three had prevented her from approaching police by insisting on a panchayat on the matter. The four gang rape accused had also made a video clip of the incident to blackmail the survivor. Police have also procured the video clip with the help of informers, SSP Kumar said. The report of medical examination of the girl is yet to reach police, he said.

Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar had on October 1 constituted a special team headed by DSP, East, Gaurav Pandey, to probe the incident and arrest the accused.
