Muzaffarpur: Muzaffarpur district is lagging far behind other districts in construction of family toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission and Lohia Swachhta Scheme. Against a target of 90,343, only 744 family toilets have been constructed in the district this year so far. It is standing at 24th position among the 38 districts of Bihar. Lakhisarai district is at number one position achieving 11.69 % of   the target.

Rural development department, in a communication to Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh, has expressed its displeasure over the tardy pace of construction of family toilets. Under 49 wards of Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation, 10,976 families do not have toilets. DM Singh said action will be taken against officials responsible for slow pace of family toilet construction.
