Patna : World No 263 Sasi Kumar Mukund, 23, India, a Wild Card entry into the main draw, lost to Taro Daniel, 27, Japan, in the first round of Tata Open Maharashtra, an ATP 250 event, at Pune, India, on February 5, 2020.

Taro Daniel beat Mukund in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 to enter the second round of the tournament. Daniel fired 7 Aces in the match to 5 by Mukund. He won 3 break points to 1 by the Indian.

The Japanese will face James Duckworth, Australia, in second round on February 6, 2020. India No 1 Prajnesh Gunneswaran will face World No 88 Soon-Woo Kwon, 22, South Korea, in second round the same day.

Meanswhile, Jiri Vesley, Czech Republic, Ilya Ivashka, Belarus, Yuichi Sugita, Japan, and Ricardas Berankis, Lithuania,  have reached QFs of the event.
