Patna : Electing to bat after winning the toos, India made 371/4 at stumps against Sri Lanka on day one of the third cricket test at Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Delhi, on December 2, 2017, with Captain Virat Kohli on an unbeaten 156 in 186 balls, his 20th test century, and Rohit Sharma on 6 not out.

Opener Murli Vijay made a magnificent 155 in 267 balls, his 11th test ton, while another opener Shikhar Dhawan made 23. Chetehwar Pujara also made 23 while vice-cptain AjinkyaRahane’s poor form conttinued as he was out for only one run to Laxman Sandakan, who had earlier taken the wicket of Murli Vijay.

Kohli completed his 5,000 runs in tests. He was needing only 25 runs to complete the 5,000 runs in tests. Kohli had hit century in first test at Kolkata and second test at Nagpur too. Murli Vijay also hit tons in Nagpur and Delhi tests. He did not play in the first test at Kolkata.
