Patna : World No1 Kento Momota, Japan, World No 12 Kenta Nishimoto, Japan, and World No 19 B Sai Praneeth, India, entered the 3rd round of BWF World Championships at Basel, Switzerland, on August 20, 2019.

Reigning World Champion Momota beat World No 87 Luis Enrique Penalver, 23, Spain, 21-10, 21-7 in 34 minutes in second round. Nomota won 42 rallies in the match to 17 by Luis. He also won 8 consecutive points to 2 by the Spaniard. It was first meeting between the two players.

Nishimoto beat World No 28 Wang Tzu Wei, Chinese Taipei, in three-games 25-23, 13-21, 21-16 in 76 minutes to enter the 3rd round. Nishimoto, the 8th seed, won 59 rallies to 60 by Wei. Both the players won 5 points each in a row in the match. Nishimoto now leads Wei 2-0 Head to Head.

Praneeth, the 16th seed, beat World N0 39 Lee Dong Keun, South Korea, 21-16, 21-15 in 56 minutes in second round.The Indian won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Lee. Both of them won 4 points each in a row in the match. Praneeth now leads Lee 3-2 Head to Head.

World No 20 Jan O Jorgensen, Denmark, beat World No 16 Tommy Sugiarto, Indonesia, 21-11, 21-15 in 33 minutes to enter the 3rd round.
