Patna : Reigning World Champion and World No 1 Kento Momota, 25, Japan, and reigning Olympic Champion Chen Long, 30, China, reached the men’s singles final of Danisa Denmark Open at Odense, Denmark, on October 19, 2019. Top seed Momota and 5th seed Long will clash in the final on October 20, 2019, at Odense Sportspark, Denmark.

Top seed Momota beat World No 19 Tommy Sugiarto, 31, Indonesia, 21-12, 21-19 in 46 minutes in the first semi-finals on October 19. Momota won the first game in only 16 minutes but Sugiarto put up strong resistance in the second game which lasted 30 minutes. Momota won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Sugiarto, son of former World Champion Icuk Sugiarto. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Tommy Sugisrto. Momota now leads Sugiarto 7-3 Head to Head.

World No 5 and 5th seed Chen Long edged past 2017 World Champion Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, in a three-game marathon 12-21, 21-14, 21-19 in 74 minutes in the second semi-finals battling back from one game down. Both the players won 54 rallies each in the match. Axelsen won 8 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Long.

Chen Long now leads Axelsen 13-4 Head to Head. Axelsen had defeated compatriot and World No 4 Anders Antonsen in the QFs while Long had defeated World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, Chinese Taipei, in the QFs.
