Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Kanto Momota, 24, Japan, beat two-times former Olympic Champion and five-time former World Champion Lin Dan, 35, China, in straight games in first round of Victor China Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 tournament, at Changzhou, China, on September 17, 2019.

Momota beat Lin Dan 21-14, 21-14 in 49 minutes at Olympic Sports Center at Changzhour, China, to enter the 2nd round.  Momota, the reigning World Champion, won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Lin Dan better known as Super Dan. Momota won 5 consecutive points to 3 by Dan. Momota now leads Dan 4-1 Head to Head.

Dan had won Olympic Gold Medal in 2008 & 2012. He won World Championships title in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2013. Momota, on the other hand, won World Championships title in 2018 and 2019. Momota has won 27 career titles.
