Patna : Top seed Kento Momota, Japan, beat 5th seed Viktor Axelsen, 26, Denmark, in straight games in final to clinch Perodua Malaysia Masters title at Kualalumpur, Malaysia, on January 12, 2020. Two-time World Champion Momota, 25, beat 2017 World Champion Axelsen 24-22, 21-11 in 54 minutes to win the singles title.

Momota won 45 rallies in the match to 33  by Axelsen. The Japanese won 9 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Axelsen. Momota now leads Axelsen 14-2 Head to Head. Momota bagged 9,000 rankings points plus cash prize while Axelsen secured 7,800 rankings points besides the cash prize. Momota has now won 32 career titles while Axelsen has won 17 career titles.
