Bokaro ( Jharkhand) :  In a move to provide air connectivity to small townships with bigger cities as per union government programme, Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das along with Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha laid foundation stone of modernisation of Bokaro aerodrome at sector 1 of Bokaro Steel City on August 25, 2018.

At present, the existing aerodrome is being maintained by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)’s prime unit Bokaro Steel Plant.
The Centre will be spending Rs 36 crore to upgrade the airport strengthening its infrastructure which includes expanding the size of present runway and air traffic system.
Talking to mediapersons, CM Raghubar Das said that after modrrnisation, which will be completed within 6 months, Bokaro will have air connectivity with Kolkatta, Patna, Jamshedpur, Ranchi and other cities putting the steel city on air map of India.
It may be mentioned here that modernisation of Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Daltonganj, Hazaribagh, Dumka aerodromes will be completed within one year for plying of small aeroplanes.
