Ara : Superintendent, Ara Jail, Niranjan Pandit, and the Jailor carried out search operation in the jail that continued till February 21, 2019, midnight, and seized mobiles thrown by the inmates from their wards. The search was carried out after a video of merry making and chatting on mobile phones by the inmates of Ara jail went viral on the social media shocking the Bhojpur district administration.
Jail Superintendent Niranjan Pandit said that the inmates were merry making at different places inside the jail and talking on mobile and added that three inmates had been identified from the video and action would be taken against them. He also said that the video appears to be very old and was made to defame the jail administration.
Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that was a very serious matter and the Bhojpur DM had also been apprised of it. He said that an inquiry was on and the guilty would not be spared.
