Motihari : A irate mob of villagers and some hoodlums blocked the NH 28A Motihari-Raxaul Road near village Bangara and vandalized tractors loaded with sugarcane, trucks, and half-a- dozen four-wheelers stranded on road on January 10, 2020, after the death of a student of a coaching institute Pulkit Kumar, 16, in a road accident. Pulkit Kumar was crushed to death by a speeding oil tanker on January 10 morning.
Pulkit Kumar, a native of village Bangara, was going to Sugauli Bazar to attend his class at the Coaching Institute by his cycle when he was crushed to death, said Rohit Kumar, SHO, Sugauli police station. The villagers placed his body on road and blocked it for hours. The villagers carrying sticks, iron rods, and blunt objects attacked bikes, cars, and jeeps parked on road -side.
The mob reached the near by Government owned Sugar Mill campus and ransacked its offices and damaged 12 SUVs and motorcycles parked on the campus. They also ransacked the offices of mill and vandalised all infrastructures. Ankit Kumar, brother of Pulkit Kumar, said that the accident occurred due to tractors loaded with sugarcane stranded on road so the villagers ransacked the sugar mill premises.
SHO, Rohit Kumar, said that the mob attacked on two jeeps of the police station and he and his four constables sustained injuries in stone pelting. Sadar SDO Priy Ranjan Raju and SDPO Vinit Kumar, Motihari, rushed to the spot with police force. Police resorted to lathi charge on stone pelting mob and chased them away from road and mill campus after and removed the blockade from NH28A.
Police sent the body for post-mortem to Motihari Sadar Hospital. Police force and senior officials are camping at the place of occurrence to maintain law and order. No arrest has been made in this connection but cases are to be lodged by police .
