Motihari:  A violent mob attacked sitting MP and BJP candidate from Paschimi Champaran parliamentary constituency (PC) Dr Sanjay Jaiswal by a mob from Shekhauna village at booth number 162 & 163 at the under Narkatiya assembly segment of the constituency and was held captive for two-hours on May 12, 2019. He was rescued by SDO, Raxaul, with the help of police force. The incident disturbed polling at the two booths.  Sekhauna village falls under Chhoradano police station in East Champaran district.

Dr Sanjay Jaiswal told this reporter that he got an information at Raxaul at 2 pm that over 200 voters of Bintoli had
been thrashed and prevented from excercising their franchise at booth number 162 and 163 c at village Shekhauna. He rushed to Bintoli and escorted all voters of the village on foot back to Shekhauna booths. ” I lodged protest with the respective Presiding Officers on their failure to protect the voters at the two booths. Meanwhile, hundreds of residents of Shekhauna carrying arms and lethal weapons attacked me and my workers. My bodyguard opened fire in air that pushed the mob back,” Dr Jaiswal said.

The BJP nominee said that he made a dozen calls to DM and SP of East Champaran but they did not respond .” I was made captive for two hours by the mob and ultimetly the SDM with force rescued me and former JD(U) MLA Shyam
Bihari Prasad,” he said. Dr Jaiswal said that his car was damaged by the mob. He said five voters of Bintoli were severely beaten up and one person has got fracture in his leg. DM  Raman Kumar said that SDM and DSP of Raxaul have been directed to  take proper action in the matter.
