Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) restricted Mumbai Indians (MI)  to a modest 149/8 in  20 overs in the IPL-12 final at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on May 12, 2019, night, due to excellent bowling by its fast bowlers and spinners. CSK fast bowler Deepak Chahar took 3/26 in 4 overs while fellow fast bowler Shardul Thakur took 2/37 in 4 overs. Spinner Imran Tahir took 2/23 in 3 overs. Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 41 in 25 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes while opener Quinton de Kock scored 29 in 17 balls hitting 4 sixes. De Kock hit Deepak Chahar for 3 sixes in his 2nd over.

MI had won the toss and opted to bat. MI had an explosive start reaching 45 in 4.5 overs but lost both their openers : Rohit Sharma ( captain) and Quinton de Kock (wk), at the same score. Quinton de Kock was first to go getting out to Shardul Thakur while Rohit fell to Deepak Chahar for 15 in 14 balls with a four and a six. After their departure, CSK bowlers tied down the MI bastmen though Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan added 37 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Suryakumar Yadav fell to Imran Tahir for 15 in 17 balls with just 1 four. Ishan Kishan also fell to Tahir for 23 in 26 balls with 3 fours making it 105/5. Hardik Pandya fell to Deepak Chahar for 16 in 15 balls with a four and a six. MI scored just 29 runs in last 3 overs. They failed to score even a single run in the 6th over.

Although spinner Harbhajan Skingh did not take any wicket he conceded only 27 runs in 4 overs while Ravindra Jadeja conceded 12 runs in his 2 overs.
