Patna: A group of B Com students of the premier girls college of Patna, Magadh Mahila College (MMC), on Saturday blocked the entrance of the college in protest against hike in their tuition fees. The girls were agitated over the sudden announcement of the college principal to raise the admission and tuition fees for admission to B Com Part II from Rs 15,000 to Rs 27,000 which they claimed was exorbitant.
Many girls, who could not pay the enhanced fees, were denied admission. They alleged the state government has declared its policy of  free education to girls but the college management had instead hiked the fees. Due to blockade, police was called by the college principal to facilitate entry of other students and teachers.
