MIscreants demand Rs 8 lakh from Bhojpur BJP leader as ‘Rangdari’

Ara : Some miscreants have demand Rs 8 lakh as ‘Rangdari’ (extortion amount)  from BJP leader Saroj Kumar Singh of Bahiro under Nawada police station (PS), Ara, in Bhojpur district. Nawada PS on July 28, 2019, lodged an FIR in this connection on the statement of Saroj Kumar Singh against seven persons of Bahiro and Sri Tola localities. Police are investigating into the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the accused.

SHO, Nawada PS, said that some miscreants demanded extortion of Rs 8 lakh from President, Bhojpur District Farmers’ cell of the BJP, Saroj Kumar Singh, threatening to eliminate his entire family if he fails to pay the amount to them.

BJP leader Saroj Kumar Singh said that he had purchased 7.5 kattha of land from his neighbour Bharat Singh but the named accused were putting pressure on him to relinquish his claim on the plot and when he refused, they demanded Rs 8 lakh rangdari from him. On his refusal, the named accused carrying sophisticated arms came and threatened to eliminate his entire  family if he does not pay the extortion amount. The BJP leader has demanded security for him and his family members from  police.
