Ara : Executive Engineer (EE), Building Construction Department (BCD), Bihar government, Kamlesh Kumar, on September 19, 2017, lodged a named FIR with Town police station, Ara, against ten persons including five engineers in connection with alleged misappropriation of about Rs 2.38 crore meant for the construction of Ara collectorate building and 15 court buildings.

The FIR was lodged on the direction of the Additional Secretary, Building Construction Department, and  Bhojpuri DM against the then Executive Engineer, Hari Gopal Singh, Assistant Engineer, Indradeo Ram, three Junior Engineers: Vinod Kumar Verma, Ramanand Ram, Sanjay Kumar, two Accounts Officers: Raja Ram and Balraj Singh, junior Accounts Officer Rahul Ojha, an employee of BCD, Ara, Umesh Kumar Mandal,  and Managing Director, V K Enterprises and contractor, Vipin Kumar alias Vipin Chaudhary of Dharahara locality under Town police station. Police arrested Vipin Chaudhary in this connection on September 20.

Executive Engineer, Building Construction Department, Kamlesh Kumar said that the contractor was hand in glove with the engineers and employees of the department and had draw about Rs 1.5 crore additional amount for construction of Ara Collectorate building and about Rs 30 lakh excess for construction of 15 court buildings. He said that the proceeding has been started to realize over Rs. 2.38 crore including interest from the contractor and added that the contractor was repeatedly asked to complete construction work at the earliest but he did not. Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar said that irregularities and forgery in government schemes at any level can’t be tolerated.
