Patna : World No 55 in ATP rankings John Millman, 29, Australia, stunned World No and five time champion Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, in the fourth round of US Open Championship at Flushing Meadows, Newyork, on September 4, 2018, to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament. Millman will play World No 6 and two-time US Open champion and winner of 13 Grand Slam titles Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, in the quarter-finals on September 5, 2018.

Millman beat Federer in a four-set encounter 3-6, 7-5, 7-6, 7-6 to enter the quarter-finals of the US Open. Federer fired 12 Aces in the match to 8 by Millman. Federer, however, committed 10 double faults to just 1 by Millman. Both the players won 3 break points each. Millman won 5 games in a row to 3 by Federer. Federer had won US Open singles title in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. He has won 20 Grand Slam titles.

Formder champion and World No 7 Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, beat World No 10 David Goffin, 27, Belgium, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4 to enter the quarter-finals of US Open. Cilic fired 12 Aces in the match to 4 by Goffin. But, Cilic also committed 6 double faults to 2 by Goffin. Cilic, however, won 5 break points to 2 by Goffin. Cilic had won US Open title in 2014.
