Saharsa : Pankaj Kumar, an employee of Microfinance Company Satin Creditcare Network Ltd, was shot dead by unidentified criminals at the gate of his office at Saharsa located near Veer Kuar Singh Singh on March 11, 2020, late night. Police have taken one of his office colleagues into custody and quizzing him.

Pankaj, a native of village Singhia Chakedhara under Kochadhaman police station in Kishanganj District, had boarded Saharsa bound DEMU at Purnia Court on March 11 night. He had got down at Karu Khirhari Halt at Saharsa and walked down to his office and asked his collueagues to open the gate. Suddenly, some unidentified criminals reached there and shot at him in his chest. Pankaj fell on the ground.

Landlord Hardev Singh, a teacher, came out after hearing the sound of gun shot and informed police, who rushed him to Sadar Hospital, Saharsa, after 1 am, where the doctor referred him to private hospital. Pankaj died at private hospital during treatment, according to SHO, Sadar police station, R K Singh.

SHO Singh said that police had taken one of Pankaj’s office colleagues into custody and quizzing him as the deceased had informed him that he would get down from train at Karu Khirhari Halt and walk down to office from there. He had asked his colleague to keep the office gate open. The SHO said that Pankaj’s colleague has given wrong information to police. He told police that Pankaj had down from train at Saharsa railway station, SHO Singh said and added that police would look into the call details of Pankaj’s mobile phone.

The SHO said that police recovered Pankaj’s bag, mobile phone, and purse from the place of occurrence. Police also found Pankaj’s bike parked on the office premises indicating that it was not all a case loot and murder.
