Patna : Top seed & World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, 30, Taiwan, edged past World No 11 Kanta Tsuneyama, 23, Japan, in a three-set encounter in 2nd round to enter the quarter-finals of Yonex All England Open, HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton tournament, at Birmingham, England, on March 12, 2020.

Chen beat Tsuneyama 19-21, 26-24, 21-13 in 82 minutes in second round at Arena Birmingham, England, rallying back from one game down. Chen won 66 rallies in the match to 58 by the Japanese. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Tsuneyama. Chen now leads Tsuneyama 5-1 Head to Head.

But, World No 14 Kidambi Srikanth, India, lost in the first round to 3rd seed and reigning Olympic Champion Chen Long, China, 21-15, 21-16 in 43 minutes on March 11, 2020. World No 10 B Sai Praneeth, India, also lost in first round to World No 36 Zhao Zun Peng, China, 21-12, 21-13 in 33 minutes on March 11.

World No 29 Lakshya Sen, 18, India, however, entered 2nd round on March 11, beating World No 18 Lee Cheuk Yiu, 23, Hong Kong, 17-21, 21-8, 21-17 in 59 minutes battling back from one game down. Lakshya Sen will face World No 7 & 2017 World Champion Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, in 2nd round on March 12, 2020, night.
