KKR had won the toss but opted to bowl.
MI began well racing to 78 in 9.2 overs when they lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma. Rohit fell to spinner Sunil Narine for 33. MI lost momentum after his departure as Suryakumar Yadav fell to medium fast bowler Prasidh Krishna for 5 making it 89/2. de Kock also fell to Prasidh Krishna for 55 and it was 106/3 after 14.5 over. de Kock hit Prasidh Krishna for 2 sixes and also hit a six off fast bowler Lockie Ferguson.
