Ara : Hundreds of activists of the Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist (CPI-ML) blocked the road at Shivganj Tri-junction under Ara Town police station (PS) since September 23, 2021, morning, with the body of Vijay Kumar, son of CPI-ML leader and former Ward Councilor, Gopal Prasad, paralysing movement of traffic.
They burnt tyres on road and raised slogans against Bhojpur district administration demanding arrest of the miscreants immediately, Rs 20 lakh compensation to the next of kin of the deceased and a job to one of his family members. In view of the gravity of the situation, Bhojpur SP Vinay Tiwari requisitioned heavy force and deployed them in the area to maintain law and order.
About half a dozen armed miscreants pumped four bullets into the body of Vijay Kumar at the gate of Ara Sadar Hospital under Ara Town PS around 7pm on September 22, 2021, and fled away in the air towards Karman Tola. A police constable who was on traffic duty at Badi Mathia Mor had a narrow escape in the firing. Police rushed to the spot and recovered four live cartridges and two blank cartridges from the spot. Police tried to take the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem but the activities of the CPI-ML did not allow and demanded presence of Bhojpur SP Vinay Tiwari on the spot. The post-mortem was performed after 10pm after the assurance of Bhojpur SP to arrest the miscreants at the earliest.
Bhojpur SP Tiwari said that he formed a six- member Special Investigation Team (SIT) under ASP Himanshu to arrest the miscreants and also to know what was the reason behind the incident. He said that the SIT are investigating the matter and said that the miscreants would be arrested very soon. Police took two persons under custody for interrogation. He also assured to interrogate a criminal of Ara languishing in Bhagalpur jail in this connection.
Gopal Parasad, CPI-ML leader cum former Ward Councilor, said that his son was killed under a well-planned conspiracy allegedly at the behest of a allegedly dreaded criminal of Ara who is languishing in Bhagalpur jail.
