Patna : Second seed Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia; 4th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 23, Greece; 9th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, 21, Canada; and 11th seed Jannik Sinner, 20, Italy, advanced to men’s singles quarter-finals of Australian Open (AO) 2022 on January 24, 2022.

World No 2 Medvedev beat World No 70 Maxime Cressy, 24, USA, in a tough four-set contest 6-2, 7-6, 6-7, 7-5 in 4th round on Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne Park, Australia, on January 24, 2022. The American hammered 18 Aces during the match to 15 by Medvedev. But, the Russian won 3 break points during the match to none by Cressy. Medvedev, in all, won 156 points in the match to 138 points by Cressy. The American committed 18 double faults during the match to 6 by the Russian. Both the players won 3 games each in a row during the match. Medvedev will face 9th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, Canada, in QF on January 26, 2022.

World No 9 Aliassime defeated 27th seed Marin Cilic, 33, Craotia, in four-sets 2-6, 7-6, 6-2, 7-6 in 4th round on John Cain Arena coming back from behind. Cilic, the 2014 US Open Champion, hammered 24 Aces during the match to 22 by Aliassime. Cilic, however, committed 8 double faults during the match to 4 by the Canadian. Bothe the players won 2 break points each in the match. Aliassime also won two tiebreaks. Both the players also won 3 games each in a row during the match. Aliassime, in all, won 135 points in the match to 124 points by Cilic, the 2018 AO finalist.

World No 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas beat 20th seed Taylor Fritz, 24, USA, in a five-set thriller 4-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 rally back from one set down  in 4th round on Rod Laver Arena to reach quarter-finals of AO for the third time.  Tsitsipas hammered 19 Aces during the match to 13 by World No 22 Fritz. The Greek won 3 break points during the match to 2 by the American. Tsitsipas, in all, won 151 points during the match to 144 points by FRitz indicating how close the match was. Both the players won 3 games each i arow  in the match.

World No 10 Jannik Sinner beat 32nd seed Alex de Minaur, 22, Australia, in straight sets 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 4th round on Rod Laver Arena. Sinner won 3 break points during the match to 1 by the Australia. The Italian won 5 games in a row during the match to 2 by Minaur. Sinner fired 9 Aces during the match to 7 by  World No 42  the Australian.
